I am interested in taking classes for graphic design. I am an okay artist..probably a 4 on a scale from 1 to 10. Do you have to be a great artist to do graphic design?

You have to be a great computer artist, not necessarily a great draftsperson. You do need an artistic eye and some creative talent. Try it and see if it works for you - who knows, your artistry may improve with some additional education.

No, Graphic design is more computer oriented then graphic Artist. But you will need to possess the same creative inspiration that an artist uses to create, however you have the aid of software to help you design your graphics.
