I have been told by many people that dying your hair won't harm the baby. I've been TTC for nearly a year and have made sure not to drink during ovulation time and the two week wait...as long as watching what meds to take when sick. It is such a struggle to have month after month of a negative preg test! Well tonight i wanted to do something nice for myself, and i just got done dying my hair. My sis told me that I probably shouldn't have. What have you all heard about this?

There is NO scientific evidence to suggest that coloring your hair while pregnant is harmful. It should be done in a well ventilated area and it is best to wait until after the 1st trimester just because the smell can make someone feel ill.
I needed to get my hair touched up a few weeks ago and the doctor said it is perfectly fine.

If you aren't pregnant, there is nothing to worry about. There have no real studies on hair dye and the effects on a fetus. I usually tell my patients to do what they think is right on stuff like this. Although, if you are pregnant, the color may not turn out right, so just something to watch for. Just so you know, I colored my hair when I was pregnant with my first girl, and nothing bad happened to her!! I don't see any reason to stop if it makes you feel better about yourself. If you are trying, there really is no reason to not do it at all. Don't listen to people who tell you things like this. Most people don't know what they are talking about, and they are old wives tales with no proven fact at all.

dying your hair used to be like 15 years ago when the chemicals in the dye were different. today's dyes are perfectly safe. i'm 35 weeks and dyed mine the other day.

I've heard the same thing.
I can't really remember but I think it has something to do with the fumes being toxic.
I believe you're not to dye your hair until after you stop breastfeeding.
