basically the price for gasol was too steep. giving away a combnaton of Gorden, Hinrich, Deng, Nocioni and PJ Brown was too much for the bulls to want to give up. if they could get away with giving Nocioni, Brown and another player not heavily in the mix, then im sure they would have done the deal.

basically, Memphis wouldnt give him up for anything...they want something valuable. it was a good move by the bulls because they wouldnt wanna break up the young core that the have. giving 2 or more of those young players wouldnt benifit them a whole lot.

i think had the bulls traded for gasol theyd find that the reason they are doing so well, was because of the players they gave away. the only bad thing i would say was not trading off Brown. his expiring contract would have been VERY enticing to teams wanting to rid themselves of certain players. not to mention hes a great post defender and role player. in the end its not so bad as the bulls will still use him come playoffs

he's not worth giving the young guys for. after an already busy offseason, one in which they made lots of signings and trades, why make another move right now. maybe they can go back after him in the offseason, who knows.
