Do you think some people are too scared to step out and approach the opposite sex so they fall back and consider themselves gay? It's much easier for many to communicate and relate to their own sex, but that doesn't neccesarily mean someone is gay. I'm just wondering if anyone else has considered one "reason" for homosexuality to be fear of rejection by the opposite sex and an excuse to not have to face this.
- clearly i'm just a confused human being so please don't be harsh

i'm sick of the ignorance card, i'm HARDLY ignorant, if anything i've seen too much and it has just made me extremely confused. so please don't go there. And I feel this way so I'm not opposing homosexuality, i'm just at a very confusing stage of either admiting it to myself or realizing I was misinterpreting something.
we're all a little ignorant in our own way
but i'm sick of some people in the gay/lesbian community thinking anyone who has any different opinions on homosexuality is a bible loving stupid ignorant christian. i'm obviously trying to understand something here and i don't appreciate being called ignorant.
i've met some very interesting gay people and have had the experiences myself.. i'm just trying to understand my own feelings. chill.

I have never had a problem attracting men, (not that I am conceited, most men are just easy to impress with a pretty smile and a little cleavage), and I don't have a problem talking to them nor am I shy. So I would say that is definitely not the case for me. Honestly I get more flustered when trying to talk to an attractive woman than I ever have with ANY male, good looking or not. That may or may not be a crutch for some, but certainly not for most.

yes. i think for some homosexual males it can be or they wouldn't be hiding it. because a lot of straight men are scared for there masculinity and can't deal w/ the fact that some men may have an alternate preference or are fed stupid scriptures from the bible of hate. even though part of masculinity is considered toughing up and not being scared of anything. i can't stand any form of prejudice(except against the prejudice themselves). i'm straight and i have gay and bi friends. there nice people. they never once forced sex on me like a lot of men are worried about. half the men that think that are ugly as hell and i don't know why that thought would even enter there head. another thing they don't all molest little boys. straight people do it a lot. little boys are just a more commercial label because two men together in any form gain lots of media attention. the worst a gay man might do is your hair bad. not all gay people are super feminine either. there are some gay men down south that will **** you up and have fun kickin the **** out of straight people. nobody should have to live in fear of that. i don't have to wake up to him in the morning so what the **** does it bother you. so on that long note. **** all prejudice pieces of ****!!!.

I'm sure there are instances where that does happen, but more often than not, I would say the person is actually homosexual. If a person is scared to approach someone of the opposite sex, how would that shyness go away with the same sex??

So your theory is that fear of the opposite gender sends people to live lives of ostracism, discrimination, and second class citizenship? Hatred, opression, violence, inequality... those don't sound like selling points to join the gay community to me.
No, I don't think that fear or shyness would result in someone being gay. Asexual perhaps.
Current scientific research suggests a combination of genetics and hormonal determining factors for sexual orientation occurring in utero. Nurture has fallen to the wayside, owing to studies of gay and straight siblings.

you fear rejection from what you feel attracted to...i am gay and , i have to say, i fear rejection from other guys...it wont work for me to have a heterosexual relationship, maybe i wouldnt be scared of rejection from women but that would only mean i dont really care.
Everyone fears failure, in his/her social life, at work, with his/her relationship. It is only a natural thing. No one likes to lose. The problem is making a drama of failure. If you fall, you may cry, and think of absurd things but at the end you will have to stand up and carry on...Next time you fall you will be able to stand up quicker.

Clueless! Table for 1.
Homosexuality has nothing to do with fear or rejection.
Confusion is never a good excuse for ignorance.
Is heterosexuality a crutch for you? Or perhaps you use homosexuality as a crutch because you are shy and don't know how to talk to the opposite sex?
Sounds stupid doesn't it?

Same-sex intimacy, gay sexual attraction and homo-erotic love are states of being derived from a NATURAL bio-psycho-social model of sexuality for those of us who are HOMOSEXUAL.
Homosexuality is not a psychological, dysfunctive illness.
Gay men exist. Us not being sexually attracted to you personally is not a reflection on your desireability, okay?
My being gay is not a form of mysogyny. I don't hate women.
