My husband is ex-army, after the first gulf war. He found his dream job, training special forces, in the Army Times. I'm not sure if the Navy has a simular military paper, however the veterans admin usually has an inside track on jobs. Have you considered the Troops to Teachers program? Special consideration is given to ex's for education and placement. There is a web site where you can direct comments and questions about Echoes at Laura.Paul@hoffman.army.mil : and maybe get a copy of the Army Echoes mini magazine that ran the article about the success of Troops to Teachers. Hope this helps. You may be able to get a back copy also from armyg1.army.mil/rso/echoes.asp. If you click on 'Register Now!' it will take you to a secure site. I've not been there, so I don't know if they have a 'contact us' there or not. Good Luck!!!!

You have some excellent transferrable skills from the navy. My brother was some type of final Quality Control Inspector for helicopters when he was in the navy, and he was able to get a pretty good job when he got out. Plus they paid for his college education as well.
At least you're planning ahead. Is there a career specialist that you can speak with?

A friend's son left the navy and was unsure of what to do. My father asked him, "what did you do in the navy." :--He was a boiler-tender.
My dad told him to look for a place that has boilers, he found a job at a food processing plant, and has been there since.
