It sounds like you're in the beginning stages of labor--the less intensive part! I remember this phase and the contractions were irregular to begin with. At some points they were 7,8 or 9 minutes apart. Then some were 15-30 minutes apart. For about the first 24 hrs. they varied. I would just relax the best you can and when they become 5 minutes apart for an hour or more, I would call the hospital. Good luck to ya.

Are you in labor for sure? Could it be braxton hicks? Walking does keep labor going and you can time your contractions when you are walking. Start timing at the beginning and count the duration of the contraction and the time it started. When the next contraction starts that is the time between contractions. Good luck and keep active as long as you can!

If the contractions go away when you change position, sit down, etc, then it's not active labor. Either early labor or even some strong Braxton-Hicks contractions. You can count them on your walk, but here's the thing...if you're not really in active labor and go to the hospital based on "sometimes" contractions they're just going to send you right back home. Even if you ARE having consistent contractions they'll probably send you home if you're not 4cm dilated.

From personal experience moving (walking) makes things move faster. So you should count the contractions while moving. With my second I was afraid to move because I thought she was going to come out holding still kept her in until we made it to the hospital.

it depends on how close to term you are..and whether or not the water has broken.
If the contractions are 5 minutes apart you should call your doc and confirm its time to go to the hospital...and-or if the water is broken.be sure you see your doctor all during the pragnancy.the last 6 weeks I think a normal preganancy is seen every week, once.

It doesn't matter if you're walking or sitting down. It rathers more if they're consistant and "real" labor pains. A quick way to figure this out is to take a warm/hot bath. If your contractions continue, they're real. if they settle down and stop, it's not.

If you aren't having contractions when you are sitting, you are not in labour, but don't worry, he or she will be here soon enough. Happy birthing.
