Prior's career is already better than Fidrych's was - the Bird ended with a 29-19 record, and Prior's at 42-29.

That's a good comparison. Prior, like Fidrych has had only one really good year, but he's still young enough to rebound and have a good career. I don't think Prior will ever be as great as most of us thought he would be. I think Fidrych threw way too many innings at a young age, while Prior's mechanics, like Kerry Wood, have been his downfall. I read on Yahoo that Prior isn't really letting loose, or finishing his pitches because he doesn't have confidence and is afraid of getting hurt again. If he can get over that mental hurdle and build up his arm strength, I think he has a chance. It's really sad for him and for baseball fans.

I think Prior still has a chance to have a better career than the Bird.

the problem with Prior in my opinon is he lost his confidence and is afraid of getting injured. His velocity is going up, touching 90 from the mid 80's at the start of spring training. he just needs to figure out he can still do it and do it and not worry
