I am 39 weeks pregnant and My mother inlaw wants to come over on wensday and stay till the baby comes. She doesnt have a liscense and will only be bringing $100, she also smokes(only outside) and leaves messes everywhere and I think she smells like cat pee but maybe its just hormones that make the smell and make me so irked that she will be rushing to the hospital with us and it wont be personal any more, by the way she only lives an hour away there isnt any real reason for her to come right now. So is it e being a brat or am I being reasonable?

You are not being unreasonable. Voice your concerns...this is about YOU not her. If she objects it's only for her own selfish needs, not yours. This is your special time and you should be able to do it YOUR way. I would just tell her that it would be alright for her to visit anytime AFTER the baby is born...but not overnight. Even if she doesn't have a license I am pretty sure she can find a ride. Don't fall for the "but I won't be able to find a ride" excuse...anyone who is that old and does not have a license has plenty of rides lined up. I would try to tell her and your husband nicely at first...(attract more flies with honey etc...) and see how it goes. Leave out the reasons you told us and state that you just don't feel comfortable with that arrangement. Good luck to you and congratulations on your baby!

no you are not being unreasonable. as a matter of fact, my boyfriends mother wants to come down from up north when we have our baby and the thing i don't like about it is that she has a dog(that stinks really bad) it has fleas because it goes outside all the time, and i do not want the dog around my new baby because i don't know how the dog is gonna react. anyways she takes that stupid dog EVERYWHERE she goes(last time she came down she wouldn't even go out to dinner with us because she didn't want the dog to be alone) and i told my boyfriend that she WILL NOT step foot in my house with that dog! i made my self loud and clear and my b/f respects my feelings and is now trying to figure a way to tell her she can't come if she doesn't leave the dog home.

It's your house. If you don't want the woman there, especially at this time in your life, she has no right to be there.
