The productivity growth of the economy slowed in the early 70's from the pace set from WWII to the late 1960's and wages have stagnated for over 30 years. We still have not achieved the post WWII long term growth rates despite a multitude of governmental policies to restore growth. I don't think Nixon,Ford, and Carter had much to do with it but they were blamed and their popularity suffered.
