do you have turn signals? if not you could check the fuse.

If you have already replaced the bulbs and the brake lamp switch, the only two remaining possibilities are either a blown fuse (or damaged wiring) or the turn signal switch has failed.
The brake lights are the priority circuit, but when the turn signals are used, they interrupt the corresponding brake lamp while the turn signal is engaged. If that switch (behind the steering wheel) fails, the brake lights will fail to operate.

the clarification the lighting fixtures paintings whilst the tail lighting fixtures are no longer on is because of the fact the brake lighting fixtures are making use of the tail mild circuit to realize a floor. once you turn on the tail lighting fixtures, the floor effectively is going away for the brake lighting fixtures, because of the fact there is voltage on the two aspects of the climate. verify the wiring on the actual of the motor vehicle for a failed floor connection or a broken floor twine.

There's a relay under the dash.
It's round and has a threeway spade on the bottom.
It should just be dangling just above the fuse box.

If that's not the problem, it could be a bad ground, or blown fuse.
