I'm making a home safety checklist for 2nd graders. I was wondering what would be some questions to ask

-trying to think of things that are most often forgotten-

no peeling or cracking paint on the walls

secure rugs to the floor

childproof locks on all doors and windows

safety bars or guards on upstairs windows

secured window blind cords

furniture secure to the wall so it won't tip over

stairs clear of any safety hazards (for toddlers or natural hazards)

heaters installed as directed by manufacturer & covered with a screen & away from furniture & curtains

keep your chimney clean

list of emergency numbers close to the telephone

test smoke (and other hazard) detectors monthly & change the batteries every 6 months

carbon monoxide detectors if needed

major appliances grounded

electrical cords in good condition

extra lenght on cords bound together, or mounted against the wall

outlets covered with safety plugs

keep chairs and step stools away from kitchen stove (or any source of heat)

keep alcoholic drinks out of reach

keep fire arms locked up

keep cleaning chemicals out of reach

kids wear flame retardent sleepwear

medications, coins, sissors, or any sharp objects out of reach

keep toilet lids closed

do not keep anything plugged in in the bath room

keep everything in the garage sealed and out of children's reach (gasoline, antifreeze, etc.)

remember to also include a little bit of outdoors safety (the pool, the trampoline, playground)

1. Are there clear paths to all doors?
2. What is the phone number for fire, police or ambulance?
3. Where should fire extinguishers be installed?
4. Do we ever touch the stove?
5. If there is a fire in the house, what is your escape plan?
6. Are you able to unlock your bedroom window? ( in case of window evacuation )

Don't attempt to cook ...Oh wait that's my safety list lol

hmm...
Make sure doors are locked at all times. (especially if you live in LA like me)

Does your family have smoke alarms?
Have your animals got vaccinated?
Do you keep ice bottles in freezer for bee stings?
Do you keep poison ivy remedies?
Does your parents keep aloe vera for burns and bites?

Check batteries in smoke detectors, map out a fire escape plan.

Pit Bull. They keep away intruders, keep you warm when it's cold, and will let you know when there's a fire. What more do you need?
