would spraying a mixture of water and disinfectant on floors before mopping be as efficient as dipping the mop into a bucket of the mixture first before mopping?

As effective and easier on the back. I used lysol or spray disinfectant. If it's a spray it is already mixed with water. Just don't use straight lysol because it will be sticky.

'dipping' in dirty water isn't as sanitary. the spray method works great because it allows you to avoid mopping yourself 'in' or 'out'

might try the clorox ready mop thing, just put new wipes on (like a swiffer) mophead, buy the clorox mop solution(in a bottle), spray using trigger on handle and wipe up

Absolutely, it's much better than dipping your mop in dirty water.
