It used to back in the 70's and then they found that the artificial hormone was waaaayyy to high. They've since lowered it significantly while keeping it at a therapeutic level for birth control. There are ones like Ortho Evera Lo, Lowestrin, and the Nuva ring is also a low dose hormone.
I would stay away from the ones like the Depo shot. In my opinion, I believe that a woman should continue to have her natural cycle even when on birth control. Anything that stops your cycle for a long period of time is highly suspicious. I hope that helps. :)

Every human being carries cancer causing cells in their body. Any factor can set off these cells. A mere common cold can set off the cancer cells to become active. Basically, you are taking more chances of putting something into your body, that your body may accept or may not. The chances of you getting cancer from the changing levels of hormones from birth control pills is moderate. Getting cancer from the use of condoms, slim.

Many studies have been done to determine whether that is true, and they have found that there is no scientific evidence to support that birth control increases your risk of any disease (besides a slight increase in the risk of blood clots).
