Nervous energy, to impress the girls, to establish bonds with friends, and because as all different kinds of hormones surge thru a teens body......their brain shuts down, common sense is no longer common, and they lose the ability to control their impulses.
It does get better.

Onset of testosterone production. They haven't had that much in their system til now, and their bodies aren't used to it. One of the effects is aggressive behavior, dominance competition, showing off etc.
Unfortunately, some men never get over it, and the pissing contests last forever.

hormones. testosterone is beginning to dominate their bodies, and they haven't yet found a healthier outlet for it, like contact sports. it's a normal phase. they'll be aggressive like that for a year or two, and it'll taper off.
