LC and SC are two different types of terminations for fiber optic strands. The LC connector terminates two fiber strands in a connector about the size of a RJ-45 connector. TheSC terminates two fiber strands as well, but is twice the size of an LC connector.

LC-LC refers to a patch cord that has LC connectors on each end.

LC-SC refers to a patch cord that has an LC connector on one end and an SC on the other end.

Used in storage "blades" for high end servers that require virtual site-to-site high speed data transfer between equipment.

These of course are for fabric iSCSI-Fibre Channel attachment modes that require optical transceivers.

LC-LC for between two 2 Gb devices
LC-SC for between a 1 Gb and a 2 Gb device
