Like after you ran the mile the teacher/coach will say walk once around the track? why?

Its called a cool down, Its the step after a warm up, If you dont have a cool down it is possible for your muscels to get a cramp.

so u can cool down slowly. its not good if u just stop and sit down after running. take a car for example. u go 60 mph and then let go of gas and then it slowly comes 2 a stop. thats much better than stomping on the brakes and go from 60 to 0 quickly.

This helps you muscle to 'cool' down so that they don't cramp up. It also keeps the blood flowing through the muscles to washout the lactic acid and CO2 and allow oxygen to come in via cellular respiration. Your heart rate, blood pressure and respiratory rate should also be returning to normal during that time frame.

Because a cool down is esssential after doing excessive cardio excercise. Walking is just the thing for that.

Any type of excercise you do requires a cool down period, if you don't your muscles will cramp up.

So you can cool off properly and there less chance you'l pull or strain a muscle.
