our thought process works in a way that connects everything
i can start off thinking of sneakers and end up thinking about nihilism, the mind meanders from thought to thought but there is usually a connection
such as: sneakers- running-track-ex-gf-school-philosophy major-essay-nihilism

Well, what you're asking is practically impossible. Neurons are connected in such a way that our brain immediately remembers something or someone when we think on something or someone, just because each word has a meaning, both conceptually and physically (the arrangement of letters).
It might only happen the first second you listen to a word in a foreign language, but just after trying to figure it out, it is connected with the person/thing/announcement... saying the word, place, mood, color, smell and anything meaningful in the surroundings - even if you still don't know what the meaning is.
This also happens with pictures, photos, objects, places, music and any kind of significant input.
That's how amazing our brain is!!!

I think the whole point of thinking of it is to remind you of why you like or dislike the connection between it. I think that everything has a meaning for someone in some way or another. Even songs I've never heard before reminds me of a time in my life or someone I know that sounds like the story in the song.
