The sperm contains the either the X or Y chromosome. The egg contains only X. XX=girl XY=boy.

So the sperm is the determining factor.

The woman's egg contains the X chromosome. The mans sperm contains X and Y. If the X sperm fertilizes the X egg, then you are having a girl. If a Y sperm fertilizes the X egg then you are having a boy. So, to answer your question, yes, the mans sperm decided the sex of the baby.

it is entirely up to the male sperm.

girls have 2 X chromossomes while males have XY

We receive one chromosome from each parent. So, you are giving your child an X chromosome and the father is either giving the baby an X or an Y.

If the sperm was carrying an X, your baby is a girl.

If the sperm was carrying an Y, your baby is a boy.

Actually, the man is who determines the gender of the baby. The woman has nothingto do with it. It the chromosomes in his sperm, if it's y its a boy, and x a girl :)
