Because, like 90% of Americans they are greedy and money hungry people who only do things that benefit themselves. It's sad!

The Iraqi parliament can't bypass this Hydrocarbon regulation, as proposed, and assume the authorities to stay in potential for lengthy. The Iraqi human beings may be outraged. The regulation is offering lengthy-time period administration of the Iraq oil by ability of overseas oil agencies and the criminal equivalent of production sharing agreements. No Iraqi authorities in its correct options might want to approve such an association. The regulation should be revised or a clean regulation may be drafted which will protect administration of the Iraq oil in the Iraqi authorities and reflect equitable cooperation with overseas oil agencies. The Iraqi authorities should be engaged on that on the prompt.

They're not making any money off of the war. But if you want, for every gallon of gas you buy, pay another dollar to the US Treasury. Thank you.
And remember, the profit of the oil companies goes into retirement IRAs, and it's really inconsequential compared to the profit government makes off the total operations of oil companies through surcharges, taxes, retail taxes, regulation fees, payroll taxes and income taxes on the corporation and the employees.

The US government has been involved in drawing up the law, a draft of which has been seen by The Independent on Sunday. It would give big oil companies such as BP, Shell, Halliburton and ;;;; Cheney has made a fortune off of his Halliburton stock options during this conflict. There is no question about the impropriety of this, given his role. Exxon, Halliburton 30-year contracts to extract Iraqi crude and allow the first large-scale operation of foreign oil interests in the country since the industry was nationalised

I love it...
If the gas prices went down by 2$
Would you give a dollar to pay for the war.??
When it comes down to it..big business,
small company, Mom and Pop store....
we're all just people trying to stay
ahead of the next bill. Some of us are
working in those companies..We'd like
to keep our jobs just a little longer.
No need to hate the big guys for having
more. They started just as small as the
rest of us. Start a business or invent something.
When the government starts taxing you
out of your shoes, cause you've made a big profit.
Let's see just how loud you can yell. While still
trying to pay health care and a decent wage to those
who are still willing to work for you.

I would agree if those companies would not pass this "loss" on to the customer. Another problem is that it is not right to beat up on anyone in the U.S. just because they are making money or large profits.
You can invest in their companies and make money for yourself, or you can push congress to pass more legislation to use alternative fuels which will put them out of business.
I noticed here recently that GW Bush is making deals with South America to bring in alternative fuel. Keep your fingers crossed it works out.

It called externalizing costs. Corporations get consumers and government to pay as many costs as possible in order to ensure they get the highest profit margin.
This is why corporations are evil and amoral. There is no such thing as a corporation with morals.

It's not their responsibility.Besides if they had too, do you know how high our gas would be then? 'Cause they'd make sure to get the money back somehow? Don't even go there.
