Skill is not everything. Some players are kept due to the fact that no matter what they will not give up. What you should do is to try and get as much batting practice, throwing practice, and running in as possible. Also, lessons would not be a bad thing. Be sure not to push yourself too hard. Whatever you do, don't give up, don't let anybody get you down, and try your best. Most of all remember, it is just a game, just go out there and have fun.

First, sign up for Little League (senior league). Recreational leagues are not allowed to exclude players so you will get to play. And you will also figure out where you are as far as skill.
Just give it shot and then work on your skills. I have coached kids at that age who were so clumsy they could barely walk much less catch a ball. And they all had fun.

Um...you need immediate private lessons and to practice every day on conditioning and skills for at least 3 hours a day to catch up on those 8 years...

start running 2 miles every day, and throw at least 100 throws into an old tire or some target like that... and go to the batting cage whenever it is open... you might not be the star but your efforts won't go unseen by the coaches...

WOW! 8 years!? That's a really long time. It would be really hard to make it. But if you really love the game, and you want to put the time, effort, and dedication into it, GO FOR IT!!!!!!!
