"O"- o - O. Right now Venus sets in the west just after the sun sets. It is the brightest object you will see in the west.

a new moon is located between the sun and the earth. the reason you cant see a new moon is because the light from the sun blocks it out. on the other hand when you have a full moon, the earth is between the sun and the moon. the moon reflects light from the sun like a big mirror and then you see it as full!!!!! hope this helps. this process is the exact same for venus, except that at some point venus will lie behind the sun from our vantage point!!!!

The moon is in the direction of the sun when it is new. The glare of the sun makes it not visible...

Venus appears to be in new phase when it is opposite the sun from the earth or directly between the sun and the earth, but again, like the moon, is not visible...nor is it visible during full phase as this is not possible...Venus would have to be opposite the earth from the sun to appear completely full.
