Is it possible that if you think too much, you'll go insane?

Let's say that you ponder upon a certain topic that is very complex and is incomprehensable to the human mind. Will you go insane just thinking intensly day after day?

Or how about thinking about more comprehesible, less complex things. Let's say that there are numerous less complex topics that you think about. You think about an idividual one for a short time, but there are many that you think about.

So will one make you insane, or both?

My uncle says that thinking about complex things a long time, or many less complex things for a long time, can make you insane.

So....Can it?

If it is a negative thought, then yes, it would be bad for you. I have many times obsessed over bad things that have happened to me. It made me anxious, depressed and created low self esteem. Sometimes when I think about philosophy or analyze something it can be a good thing because it exercises my mind to be more subjective and also allows me to synthesize and evaluate the situation.
But when people do rude and inconsiderate things to me, and I think about it for weeks then yes it is a bad thing.

Have no fear.
Some facts are always known.
You build on that you know.

If you find you are wrong, change it.
You can't go insane as long as you realize anything could be wrong.

Be open to that.
Accept what is the truth.
If you get confused, stop, sleep, do something else.

Return to it with a clear mind later.

Too much of anything is a bad thing. In fact, some believe that "obsessive thought" is a major problem. Meditation is one avenue to stem the attachment to these thoughts, and the depression and anxiety that can be associated with them.

I don't believe there is such a thing as too much thinking. Unless there is a one-to-one ratio between your thoughts and your mouth.

Yes, it can. That's why I avoid thinking of infinity for extended periods; that way leads to madness, which can be historically verified. (Just don't ask me where, when or how!)
