I am 19 years old and my parents are divorced. Well, my mother is misappropriating the money sent to her and I can prove this. It is spent on nothing but herself and it is supposed to be spent on me or things having to do with me. Soon, I will be moving out and child support doesn't stop until I am 21. I don't want her to take this money anymore and was wondering if I can have it sent to me instead of her since I will not be living with her. Thank You.

Child support does not get sent to a child but to a primary caregiver, regardless of reason. If you try to get it sent to you instead of your mother, one of two things will happen: either it will be put into a trust you cannot touch until you are 21, or it will be cancelled as you are on your own and able to take care of yourself.

How is the money being "misappropriated"? Congratulations by the way on knowing a big word, but you're still as clueless as a sack of hammers. Do you not live in a house? One that has running water, electricity, heating, phone, internet, etc.? Do you not eat food? Wear clothes? Use school supplies? Go to the doctor and dentist when you need to? If your mother is providing all these things, how is she spending the child support your father pays incorrectly? Let me guess, where you live all those things are free. LOL Shut your ungrateful mouth.

Child support does not need to be spent on you or things having to do with you. If your mother provided housing, clothes, and other essentials for you it doesn't matter where that money came from. Your father was putting in his share of raising you. If you are moving your father should not have to pay support any more since you will no longer need to be raised. In my state support stops at the age of 18 for this reason.
You can not have the money sent to you because it is your mother's money not yours.

So putting a roof over your head, food in your belly, a place to sleep was misappropriating the child support? What do you think child support is for?

Since you're 19, and not living at home. Neither of you deserve the support. Why not give your dad a break and let him know that.

Go to family court and request the child support get sent to you instead of your! AND if you are good talking terms with your Dad explain the situation and maybe he can help you with the proper channels to go through.
GOOD LUCK

I have never heard of this unless there is a clause that you have to be continuing your education to obtain further support. Are you going to college full time? Does your mom pay any of your expenses? If not, it is up to your father to discontinue paying support and then maybe he can help you on his own on his own merit.

until 21??? really? omg. well.....your dad could file for a modification of child support or relief of it since you will no longer be living with her. but once you do that...your dad gets to keep the money for himself. support stops completely.

You need to talk to the attorney general that handles your child support. If your mother won't tell you who it is, ask your dad.
