Well, I've clipped claws on a savannah monitor before, so it could be done. Usually is a two person job - one to hold the lizard and one to actually clip. You could try wrapping him in a towel so that only one foot is out at a time, that way the holder doesn't end up shredded. Only clip the very tip - lizard claws have a "quick" like other animals, and this will bleed if cut to deeply and possibly lead to an infection. I always keep a styptic pencil around, just in case.

Below are 2 links to websites on claw trimming - they're written for iguanas, but the procedure would be the same. The first also has a diagram showing where the quick is so you can judge where to clip.

The other option would be to have a vet do it for you.

its better to walk them on a hard surface like suggested. If the nail is cut so its not sharp then your bts is going to spend time trying to get them sharp again as these are his defence mechanisms like a cat scratching on the carpet

A better and safer option (for both you and your BTS), is allow him to walk on concrete for a little bit. It'll naturally wear down the tips.
Or, you can consult a reptile vet, for advice.

you can get clippers at the store made for dogs. take your dog out for a really really long walk, and then clip the nails. this way your dog will be very tired and wont fight you as much. always keep the nails trimmed- it isnt good for them to get long. ever.
