i only buy from people who have been members for more than 12 months and who have 100% positive feedback with zero negative feedback

before i started buying that way ,when i was a newbie on ebay, i purchased something from a person who had only been a member for 6 months, although this person had 100% positive feedback, i paid for the item which was $25 AUD plus postage, i did not receive it, i made several attempts to contact this member through ebay but wiht no response, i then entered the dispute, and applied to ebay to get the sellers phone number, turns out the number was non existant, then i applied to ebay for a refund, EBAY told me that as the item was under $30 their insurance wouldnt cover me and thus wouldnt reimburse me my lost. the seller since then started receiving negative feedback, seems everything they sold around that time they never posted either and they had their account closed, but no body was reimbursed by ebay.

check feedback, some negative are not necessity bad. if a person has 800 feedback's and 4 negatives that's very good.a lot of times its the buyer who is trying to scam, not the seller. Email the seller and ask him a question about the item, if he doesn't answer your email don't buy from them. you pay pal and you will be covered and reimbursed your money back..EBay is 99% honest people that ant to keep selling and will do the most to keep you happy! don't be afraid of getting ripped off.

Make sure you use a credit card because you can take the charge off of your card if you get scammed. Or use PayPal which also guarantees your purchase.

look at all of their feedback from other people, read what people have said about them. That's about all you can do.
