How do breast cancer walks raise money?

Each woman & a few men raised $1900 each to participate, I walked in the July 2002 3-Day Walk (from San Jose to San Francisco). The participants ask all their family, friends & co-worker to help support them. Some of the money goes for tents, food, showers, Band-Aids & mostly into the organizers (Pallotta Team Works) own pockets. I have a problem with that. We raised 11 million & only 4 million went to Breast Cancer directly. From now on, I will only give money directly to the Breast Cancer fund. Having the walk each year helps people become aware & give their hard earned monies more to the organizers then to the Breast Cancer fund. There many volunteers on hand to help out & support the walkers.

They raise money by making something as simple as those pink ribbon breast cancer pins. There easy to make and very low cost efficent.
