I know that the shower is supose to be thrown by a friend but i do not have any close friends around here that would do that, and my mom wants to throw one for me. Does it really matter who throws the shower? I mean this day and age everything is different is iti really so tacky and wont be aceptable?
What do you think? This was my moms idea so why not let her run with it?
This is my first baby also. and her first grandchild.

Happy Baby!!! My mom actually threw a baby shower for me, It was a surprise and it was also for my first child / her first grandchild... It was simple... close family members and some friends and let me tell you, although I do have some close friends they were much happier to help her out and partake that way and I was much happier with it because my mom is just about my best friend.... It's great that she wants to, let her have the fun and don't worry about the 'rules' they really don't apply anymore!!! :)

It really doesn't matter who throws the shower for you. Mine was not "traditional" either. My girlfriend and I were pregnant at the same time. We had a shower together, which was thrown by a mutual friend, but it was co-ed, so boys were allowed too. It was fun. Then we had separate showers too, thrown by family members. (We were just sooo spoiled :) )
It's perfectly alright if your Mom wants to throw it. I bet it's going to be the best shower ever - since it will be for the first grandbaby! Congrats and have fun :)!

There's absolutely nothing wrong with your mom throwing the baby shower. I think that it would be tacky if YOU were throwing the shower, but not if it's your mom. Have a great time!

I think having your mom throw it is an even better idea than a friend...who knows you and wants the best for you more than mom , right?

yeah my baby shower was in a hospital and not everyone could come in at once so they had to just drop gifts off since i couldn't have a real party since being around ppl raised my blood pressure and everyone was okay with that i think its a fine idea to have your mom do it it may not be the norm but i guarantee that either ppl wont notice or wont care it is not crazy or anything

I have never heard of a hostess protocol for baby showers, so let her throw you a shower. How special that she gets to do this for her first grandchild!

ABSOLUTELY!!! All the baby showers I have been to are thrown by the moms or mom and mother-in-law together. Let your mom have fun with it and in no way should it be awkward!

yes it is fine, my mom, sister, grandma, aunt and mother-in-law are giving me my baby shower in 3 weeks. They are all going in together to get the cake and supplies, sending invitations and all that has to be done! congratulations and have fun at your shower :)

I dont think it has to be thrown by a friend. My mom threw mine and my sister in law's was thrown by her cousin and Aunt

I think it shouldnt matter... My aunt and me are throwing my own baby shower... Its fun cuz I get say in it... Because Im kind of picky and stuff... And like things organised... =)
