For emergency only. I specifically tell my kids not to use it, while inside the campus/class and not to let other kids use them either. Once they out of the school or after the end of the school time, and on their way home, they call me to let me know that they are going home or will stay for more class studies with their classmates or perhaps will stay at the school library.

hope this helps.

at my daughters school you are not allowed to call home unless you are running a fever
end of story
if you would happen to start your monthly or anything (those first starting) they will find clothes for you
they had a girl to pass out
they had a girl that fell and fractured her tail bone
and others also
none called home or was allowed to call home
under these terms i think they are a good thing to have just not turned on in class so that way there is no interuptions
