Ditto to the last answer.

Holding the mouth agape as if she's having trouble breathing, and the "rattles" when she exhales, is a sign of respiratory infection and/or a gastroenteritis. The belly might also be distended ( bloated ). This is another indicator of gastroenteritis, or alternately, she could be impacted and that can be causing other problems with organ function. All three of these situations are quick killers in snakes, so you should get her to a vet to rule this out, and/or get her on the appropriate treatment right away.

If you luck out and that's not the problem, then you have a good current checkup on the animal and a good place to start looking for the less serious problems in the husbandry that might be causing issues.

As a former snake owner, I would say that this sounds like a respiratory infection that will need antibiotics to treat. Call around to vet's offices to find one that will handle reptiles. (I wouldn't wait too long to call.)
Good Luck and I hope your poor baby gets feeling better soon!

Yeah, I agree that it sounds like a respiratory infection. You should seek help from a vet experienced with snakes immediately. Just look for one that specializes in exotic animals.

definitely sounds like a RI infection but there are other signs too, does she keep her mouth open looking like she breathing through her mouth? or a popping sound that accompanies the hissing? if so its definitely RI look for a vet who has experience working with herps. best of luck to you and your snake
