I recently bought a 92 ford explorer xlt with A4LD transmion, as it turns out the transmission was bad so I bought a new one and have instaled it

After installing the new one, now it wont work, the wheels dont turn at all

I believe I may have overfilled the transmission somewhat but even so I think it should be working at least a little bit

someone told me it could be a missaligned torque convertor
but it all fit correctly

well if anyone knows plz tell me, Im starting to think it is a misaligned torque convertor thanks :)

There is not enough information to answer your question. Is there any line pressure? Is it being electronically controlled? Is the transmission you just installed new? Used? Remanufactured? I can tell you now that the failure rate on a used transmission is very, very, very high, I would say in the 75% range. Sounds like you need to have the vehicle towed to a professional repair facility for an evaluation. I recommend finding the best on the website ASE.com. Then locate one that is a Blue Seal rated facility. This elite certification is given to only 3-4% of shops across the nation.

When you installed the torque converter did you turn it slowly until it slipped into the transmission? If the converter was not pushed into the pump properly it might have done damage to the transmission. Did the converter have trouble bolting up to the flex plate/flywheel when you installed it? Try to unbolt the converter from the flex plate and see if it can be rotated and pressed into the pump of the transmission. Hopefully nothing broke off inside. If the converter does go in then drain some or all of the fluid and get the level right. If this is a new/rebuilt unit and not a salvage yard unit I would call the supplier of the trans for help. Some tranny's from a yard don't work too.

If you misaligned the torque converter you broke the pump gears in the trans ,thats why it won`t move

ok check to see if u may have miss judged it if u pulled the trany in with the bolts, and it didnt just slide into position the u probly broke the pump,i have done this before, sucks, did u make shure u put enof fluid in? u have to fill the tork converter to if it was new too, it holds more fluid then u think but if i had to guess the pump is broke. the tork converter has notches it has to fit into. good luck

The torque convertor has to be " in the pump" ....lined up if you will....BUT...if it wasn't...the convertor would have made it hard to bolt everything up......SO...maybe ???...you got a bad tranny...i have gotten them from dealer parts and they did not work at all...had to remove and do it all over. Hope I helped.
