Words are powerful things...and the tonal intent serves to exacerbate the communique in question, words to me as a Writer are something that i sink into, I practically bleed words, and their comfort as i write are a soothing balm and a spiritual boon as well. i do NOT take seriously what comes from anger, i am wise enough to understand the difference, however do they affect me? YES!! Enough not only to have replied to this, but the way a person speaks along with their vernacular says as much as any picture can say, or photograph...it is an underlying current of what is REALLY going on.
Great question by the way.

Not always the words but the TONE in which those words are said.

Some people can push my buttons more than others.

I value most people's opinion, therefore, people's words affect me however they're directed at me! Although I do ignore negativity or esle just plain rudeness.. I guess it depends on what is being said and why ... etc =)

Words of praise can change me.
They take but a second to say, but last a lifetime.

It depends whose they are. If they are from someone I care about, then they can make me happy or sad. If it's a stranger or someone I don't know well ... words don't mean much.

Depends on what they say. If its positive, it makes me happy, if its negative and rude, I just smile and walk away.
