The best product I have found for copper and brass cleaning is Twinkle, they sell it in the grocery store. You warm the piece in warm water and there is a soft sponge and you just wipe it on, you can see all of the oxidation go away right away. Then just dry, brass and copper if left uncovered will probabably require the same in about 3 months.

Please go to your local grocery store, and in the cleaning supplies aisle, look for brass cleaner. That is the way to go. Take care.
