Well my name is Chelsea and I never get compared to Chelsea Clinton, not that many people make the connection. As for the guy that said it screams white person, I live in South Texas and there are a lot of Hispanic people with the name as well. Also my husband is Korean and so my boys are also Asian American and there names are Ian Kenneth Kee and Tate Kingston Kee and I think they are a perfect fit. Tell your sister to follow her heart. Oh and also I get a lot of compliments on my name.

I don't think that it matters if the baby is half asian, to me the bigger thing is if the first name sounds good with the last name. My kids are half asian, and I think that a very ethnic name would probably sound silly with a chinese last name. Like Salvatore Chang, sounds a little silly.

But I don't really like the name Chelsea Cheung, just because of the sound repetition. When I was picking out names I practiced yelling them, like if you were yelling at the kid to come downstairs for the 50th time :-)

In the end it will be your sister's choice, and you're probably better off just staying out of it because she'll do what she wants. And if she picks Chelsea, then I'm sure before long you wouldn't be able to imagine any other name for her.

Well it doesn't have to be spelled the same as the soccer club or the Clinton. It could be spelled Chelcie, Chelseigh, Chelsy, and many other ways. So you don't have to worry about someone thinking the baby is named after anyone you don't approve of.
Also, it sounds like you may not like the name too much. But is this your baby? No. So as long as your sister, and her husband/ boyfriend whatever, likes the name it shouldn't matter to you what it is. Just be happy that you're going to have a sweety little niece to love. The name will grow on you. Pluss you could look up names that you think are more appropreate and sujest them as middle names. A lot of people go by their middle name!

I love it. Everyone i know called Chelsea is cute and bubbly. It's a fairly popular name in Australia, we dont really have the Chelsea Clinton connotation. Maybe if they want to distance from her and the whole soccer club thing they could spell it differently like Chelsy or Chelsie. No matter what name they choose it will be connected to someone in someway (unless they made it up)

Dn't worry, it's not as if people are going to remember Chelsea Clinton for a long time. I think it's a nice name for the girl: Chelsea Cheung. It adds sonority!

I love the name Chelsea, but everyone will automatically think of Chelsea Clinton. I really would try to stay away from names that are shared by famous people.

I think the name sounds great with her last name. It has a sing-song quality to it.

Chelsea's become a very popular name in the past decade, in the U.S. Chelsea Clinton was an awkward-looking teen (who isn't?), but she's grown into a lovely young woman.

Chelsea is the height of white, yuppie wanna-be names. Not only isn't it a good name for an Asian-American baby girl (few names scream "my parents wish I was white" louder), I don't think it's a good name for any girl whose parents want her to grow up into a level-headed person.

Chelsea is a neighborhood in West London and a predominantly gay neighborhood in Manhattan. It's not a good girl's name.

Yeah, that's a pretty name, but Chelsea Clinton is the first thing that pops into ones mind when they hear the name.

Chelsea Clinton had some reconstruction done and is hotter now than she has ever been. And I think Chelsea is a nice name. Pronouncing it Kelsey makes it cuter
