Elvis is considered the King of Rock and Roll.
However Bill Haley and the Comet's was rockin and a rollin before Elvis came along.
As far as, I'm concerned Stevie Ray Vaughn is the King
of Rock and Blues. Could make a Strat talk to ya.
To bad we lost him in a crash.

How long have you been asleep? The king of rock is Elvis Presley. There was one and only one king, I have never heard another rock star come close to Elvis. and his music. All the ones you listed are good, and as the old saying goes, not quite good enough to cut the mustard.

Jim Morrison was King.
Robert Plant is the King who's still alive, Ozzy is the Duke.
Elvis is not the king, all he did was play black music and look pretty. Credit for expanding the cultural and social acceptance of the music genre but he didn't innovate anything. Jerry Lee Lewis is more the king of rock and roll than Elvis.

Kurt Cobain was the king of grunge.
I'd have to say Jim Morrison was the king of rock.
