You'll find the good portions of the 60 minutes interview at CBS.com, but I'll spare your time and offer a summation of the disgusting interview:

Cowell's success journey began amongst the common workers in music media 17 years ago. He put on the passion to learn as much about media entertainment, surely sacrificing people along the way; after all--you don't become Simon Cowell by being a nice guy. Cowell also put on the savvy, worming into the hearts of just the right people, who gave him the steps up into his current Sony/BMG position.

From there, as a high paid Sony/BMG exec (deservedly or otherwise), Cowell moonlighted by creating a production company--pitching the model for a TV music show in England that evolved into today's American Idol.

Cowell owes his American success to the daughter (a-hemmmm.....) of Fox big-boss exec Rupert Murdoch, convincing him to buy and air a show he didn't like (surely a story IS there....a-hemmmm).

Cowell snags $30 million from England's "X-Factor" show and, thanks again to Rupert's daughter, he rakes in another $30 million for American Idol....which now has spin-off shows in at least 30 other countries planet-wide: Cowell taking in a juicy $$$ slice of pie from each.

Bottom line: Cowell makes far more $$$ than Sony/BMG client Bruce Springsteen---and he does it by exploiting talent-less people and in many many tragic cases, mentally scarring the innocents for years.

And for what? So we can see that one "jewel in the rough" shine as a "super-star", something I really have yet to see from any American Idol or X-Factor winner. But then again, I take a stand against people exploitive shows (reality TV) and refuse to honor them with my time.

And the rub of it all is there are common people out there, making an average living, that know far far more about the world of media entertainment than Cowell can possibly learn. Maybe there should be a "reality TV" show where media execs seek out, test and find that common joe that IS the next media idea wizard.....hmmmmm.....fire Simon Cowell by surprize.....could be an idea there.....
