on windows live mesinger msn how to you get the photos to stop on the left side of your frends list?

how do you get the display photo on the side of the frends contackt list . insted of just the names or the emails insted of the msn simbol green hed when your contacks am on line or not . so you can see the persons profile photo all down the left side colom.
