what do you beleive. I'm starting to wonder if i'm just going to die alone, some complete stranger actually told me that while i was at work. Its depressing.

Yes there is. I just to think after my 4 year relationship blew up, i would never find someone else.
Then one day by complete fluke of a chain of events (I believe in fate now), I met a girl on-line from the US (I was in the UK at the time), we got married and life is good.
So yes, there is someone out there for everyone, you just have to keep the faith and it will happen.

Don't think like that you will find someone. I was given some advice that I will share with you. Make a list of the type of guy you want and then go to events, places that you think this type of guy would attend or be. Even if your tired just go for like five minutes and you will eventually run into that special someone.
