The Rwandan Genocide which was mostly ignored by the International Community except for a very small United Nations Peacekeeping force too small to maintain safety for the people and peace occurred in the mid-1990's.
The movie Hotel Rwanda does a decent job of showing a fairly objective view of the fall of Rwanda in the last few weeks.
For other information you should be able to search Google or go to wikipedia and learn more details.

I don't know much, but what I have read and seen on t.v, it had to be horrible. These people watched as their love ones were hacked to death. There were many trust issues. I think this happened when the former President Clinton was in office. I thought or perhaps dreamed that the U.S.A. intervened?

I also thought recently in the past year a movie was made to tell all of this horror and struggles?
