A Single piercing the (3-7) days afterwards will occur and can be extremely uncomfortable. Cold, Slurpee-style drinks and sucking on ice will help to mitigate the swelling and soreness, as will ibuprofen. This swelling must be accounted for by using a longer piece of initial jewelry, which is later replaced by a shorter piece of jewelry to prevent the healed piercing from damaging the teeth and gums.

A tongue piercing usually takes 4-6 weeks to fully heal. Aftercare for tongue piercings is more complicated than most other piercings, as the healing piercing will come into contact with anything that enters the mouth, including food and smoke. For these reasons, many certified piercers suggest as after care guidelines, not to engage in oral sex, not to smoke, and to remember rinsing your mouth thoroughly with a particular antiseptic mouthwash recommended by the certified piercer. The piercer should recommend either an alcohol-free mouthwash or diluting a regular mouthwash, as the alcohol will irritate the piercing and slow healing. It is especially important not to play with the piercing during the healing period, because that will severely inhibit the proper healing of the hole.

Tongue piercings are most often pierced with straight barbell style jewelry. Due to the amount of action and movement that the tongue is involved with (speech, eating, kissing, oral sex, etc...), jewelry size and comfort is especially important. Barbells that are too thin are prone to migration, causing discomfort and irritation. Tongue piercings can often be easily stretched to accommodate larger jewelry. The beads at the end of the barbell can be made of many decorative materials, including plastic, but the environment of the mouth can cause cracking and discoloration in the jewelry over time. No-see-um beads, flatter beads matching the color of the tongue are sometimes worn to conceal this piercing, often in places of employment.

As for places I looked up on a site and they suggest a place called Warrior or a place called No Ka Oi Tiki Tattoo for being the cleanest places.

Dumb move, don't do it. They have found that heart attacks are showing up in teens 16 and younger related to tongue and lip piercings. Great place for an infection, just think a warm moist environment. The infection goes to their hearts. A tongue piercing really doesn't prove anything except maybe a little rebellion. Don't be like everyone else, be you.

There are documented cases (one at Yale New Haven Hospital) of people having to have their tongues amputated because of gangrene.
That probably hurts.
The cleanliness of the piercing facility is not the only issue. Infection can set in at any point during the healing process. The mouth is the dirtiest part of the body, bacteria-wise.
Never pierce a functional part of your body. Something can always go wrong.

Tongue piercing is VERY dangerous. See the following website link about the dangers. Why would ANYONE want it done is beyond me. My son is the one who turned me on to this site after he and his wife removed their tongue studs.

IT IS A VERY BAD IDEA
1--high infection rate--I've had more than one patient who LOST THEIR TONGUE
2--chipped or broken teeth
3--you'll have to re-learn how to talk--the ring/stud gets in the way
4--it will hurt, a lot, for quite a while, and you will have trouble eating
Get your ears done instead!

tongue piercings are cool but just remember how painful they can be if they fall out, that you have it forever, and that it's really painful. good luck and i would get a stud for it, not a ring

It goes really fast, so the pain isn't bad at all and it stays swollen for a few days. It's totally worth it.
