My daughter had really bad colic. I found that the most effective thing was laying her flat on her back, pull both legs straight out, one at a time bend her knee and push until her knee touches her belly, go back and forth bending and straighting her/his legs. Another is laying her across your legs on her belly and rocking your legs from side to side.

When my kids were little the gas drops(mylicon) worked a little but the best thing was th lay them on your knees on their stomach, rub their back and gently pat it over and over.
