I have to peform 2 monolouges for an audition. They both have to be Contemporary, and 2 minutes or less. I need to find a Shakesperean Monolouge from the 19th century. Can you help me please?

Let's assume by "Shakespearean" you mean something perhaps serious--high drama? What about Ibsen? Lots of good material there--HEDDA GABLER, A DOLL'S HOUSE, etc. Strindberg is a personal favorite--there might be a good monologue in THE DANCE OF DEATH. Bernard Shaw is full of monologues, although they are more early 20th than 19th C.

What exactly is "the tone of Shakespeare"?

And, by the way, if you've been asked to perform two CONTEMPORARY monologues, they're certainly NOT looking for you to walk in with a piece from the 19th century.

Good luck.
