I think it's a hateful word, and should never be used by anyone. Even if today's young people don't think it's bad, it's very hurtful and offensive to your elders.

Most definitely not. Ignorant people still use this word. Artists and whosoever can go around and around trying to justify why it should be okay for their personal usage, but it's now long overdue for abolishment. Even tupac's positive spin on it - Never.Ignorant.Getting.Goals.Acomplished - to me, seems unnecessary. It is a word like any other, so it looks very stupid if individuals try and choose when they want to hear it, and by whom. It makes no sense that we were once owned and claimed by someone who could say "Hey, that's my n****!", yet now to greet each other we'd say the very same thing?
People just need to grow up, and pull themselves out of self oppression.

I know I'm not black, so my input won't weigh as much in this argument, but I think that the N word, even if you switch the meaning and drop the "r", is a remanent of a very hateful, evil time in our society. If we ever want to truly rid the world of all the hate, bigotry, and intolerance that that word stood for, we should try not to use the word itself, even colloquially.

I don't think anyone should use any hurtful language. It perpetuates the problem of racism. It may not seem like it if you are using a slur towards one in your own "color", but it can't be a positive thing. You are just reminding each other of the hatred that's out there, and that can breed resentment.

See since i am black this may be important. Have you ever noticed, if a black person calls a black person a ***** its not a problem, but if anybody else calls a black person a ***** its a mad problem. I think its a problem for anybody to say it.

NO. I personally think that makes it even worse. How can you demand respect if you don't even respect yourself? And when you do call yourself that it reinforces the stereotype of blacks being ignorant and stupid with nothing intelligent to say.
