depending on the individual kids age, something that will stimulate and interest them, and that they can extend on, i use lots of arts and crafts, paint, collage, clay, dough etc for the younger kids and murals, beading etc for the older ones..
The kids also need a variety of things to do, games, age approate, simple board or card games for the younger ones, or even some ball games..

my son is 6 and he loves playstation 2,games like barnyard,stuart little,spongebob,ect or get him a v-smile if they younger then 6,very educational games,math ,spelling but it with cartoon characters
