Absolutely none, no probability at all.
If the truth be known, there never was very much. Prior to the Cuban Missile Crisis there just wasn't enough war-head power to embroil the whole planet in the way the scare-mongers tried to portray. And after just about no-one who had any useable brain cells had the slightest idea that this would be a useful contribution to human 'civilisation'.
Now, with the collapse of Soviet Communism, and China busy getting ready to wipe capitalism out at it's own game, there is simply no scenario for Global Nuclear Conflict.
Also....Peter Sellers has gone to the happy Funny Farm in the sky, so Dr. Strangelove will never ride again.
If your interested in a very sober analysis of the state of the nuclear stand-off in the 1960's, and the perspective that that sheds on your question read Herman Kahn's "Thinking about the Unthinkable". It pretty much lays out the drastic over-statement of the whole concept of 'overkill'.

Well, I'm 52, and I survived the "cold war." Things are better now (believe it or not); the various countries of the world are better about policing nuclear powers, so I'm still hopeful we can avoid any nuclear conflict.

It all depends on whether European countries sit on their butts long enough for Iran to finish making an atomic bomb. If they do, then they will blow Israel off the face of the map and so start a global thermal nuclear war.

Will not materialise.
Just that living human kind is living with "Fear is the key" with imagination running wild and spread like wild-fire could not overwhelm "Fear is the key" in planet of apes.
Our creator left behind the landmark for the good of mankind in Russia.
So just continue in playing your foot-ball in planet of apes.

no, it is not probable. Possible, but not likely. Panic if you like, but we have managed to be around this long. Besides, next week we could all be hit with a meteor. That's not likely either....
