The question should be why would I want Ed Cota over Childress??? Ed Cota never learned to shoot a jumpshot his whole college career. yes, he was one of the best passers in the history of the ACC and dished out many assists. Cota also played tenacious defense but Childress could play D adequately and shoot lights out. Do you remember the ACC tournament where Childress averaged 30pts per game, leading Wake to the ACC tourney title. Cota was a good point guard but he did not possess the talent of Childress on the offense end of the balls and with the game on the line, I would rather have a playmaker in Childress who can take the game into his own hands..

Gosh, I've watched the ACC and UNC in particular for so many years, that would be a hard choice to make.

Actually I don't think either of those would be my first choice if I wanted a strong point guard.

Phil Ford was an awesome guard. Can't remember how his shooting was, but as far as game control and being a floor leader, he was great.

NC State had a couple of great ones too.

um.....you sure Childress and Cota are the only two choices?

Now thats a good question! Being a UNC fan that is. I would say Childress. He killed the heels with those 3 pointers in the ACC championship his SR. year. He was more of a shooting guard than a point quard. Cota has just a point guard.

Randolph Childress.

I think he's a better overall guard, and a better slasher + passer. Not only that, he's quicker and has better hops. (In my opinion)

Hope this helps & you select this as your 'answer.'

give me childress, much better at scoring the ball, and pretty equal as a defender.

I'd take Cota, he was a great point

Childress was just a ballhog.
