The most I babysit in a family is 6 kids ranging in any age. Plus, these are homeschool families and they don't have much money, is $3 proper pay? I usually babysit for 6-8 hrs. a night. And I live for kids!

if you are good at what you do, you love to do it, and you are dependable and the parents aren't worried when you're there...you're worth more. loving a job is great. doing it for nothing (moneywise) is just foolish.

Girl....I can understand that they might not have much money...but I think that you should charge at least 5$ and hour. Especially if you are old enough to drive and put gas in your car. Think about it....If you charge 3 dollars per hour now for 6 hours thats only 18 dollars if you charge 5 dollars per hour for 6 hrs. then that would be 30$. That's not much of a diffrence but it's better than 18 dollars for keeping little rugrats all day! LoL! I love kids too! But yeah i think that you should at least charge 5 $! Good Luck with this!

In my opinion, $3 is not enough. When I was your age I asked for $5 an hour, but with inflation, you could probably ask for more. It is hard work to watch 6 kids for 6 hours!!!

In 6 hours you could make $18 (charging $3 per hour) or $35 (charging $5 per hour). Personally, I think if you did a good job babysitting 6 kids for 6 hours, you deserve at least $35, if not more!

It's not just paying you for your time, but the amount of work you have to do in that time. Maybe $3 per hour is fine if you are watching a child who sleeps the whole time you are there. But if you are watching 6 kids who are all running in six different directions and you are trying to keep track of everyone, that is much harder!

Something to think about: charging per child. Maybe it's a dollar per child, two dollars, or maybe just $.50. Remember, don't get greedy, but you do deserve to be rewarded for all your hard work!

you should charge no less than $7 hr (or more depending on where you live) PLUS! Add on another $3 per hr per child when there is more than 2.

It is still cheap money for parents to pay to get out of the house for a few hours. You are doing them a service - so create a professional demeanor and you can have your babysitting job plus FAIR and APPROPRIATE compensation. If you are good, you will be worth it and earning it so don't think you are being greedy.

You are very generous, for that is a low price, especially for 6 kids. But if you are able to survive on that amount, and that is not your only job, then it's really up to you. It's okay to me. But if this is all you have as far as work is concerned, and you are in trouble financially, then you need to up the price to at least 4 dollars an hour. That should not be un-reasonable. Really today most people I know pay at least minimum wage for babysitting.

honey... i am 14 years old and people pay me 10-15 dollars an hour to watch 1-5 kids. you need to up your price. you are being taken advantage off. if your older than me, you should charge 10-15 depending on how many children if there are 6 kids you shou;ld charge 15 dollars. but if its like one or two, you chould charge 10. if you are younger, charge at least 6-8 dollars for all jobs. i quess it depends on where you live. i live in a wealthy town so the parents are very generous. email me at love2swim9892@yahoo.com if you ahve any more questions.

You must be terribly busy if you only charge $3.00 an hour.
I wouldn't do that for any less than $5.00. Especially where there is more than one child.
