I am a little over 8 weeks pregnant and my doctor recently told me to stay away from drinks or foods containing Nutrasweet. I don't think that I've eaten or drank anything with Nutrasweet in it, but I'm not 100% sure. Does anyone know the foods and drinks containing Nutrasweet. Thanks!

Yes, a lot of diet drinks, like diet sodas (the ones that don't specify Splenda instead) and Crystal Light. Basically everything with artifical sweetener usually uses aspartame (NutraSweet). Saccharin used to be the popular artificial sweetener, but it was replaced with aspartame when people were worried about saccharin, and very few things have switched from aspartame to sucralose (Splenda). It's also in sugar-free gum, sugar-free ice creams, sugar-free candies, sugar-free pudding, sugar-free cookies. . . you get the idea. Most anything sugar-free now has aspartame in it instead of sugar or saccharin (unless, like I said, it specifies that it uses sucralose). You should be able to avoid it easily if you avoid products that are diet, "light," or sugar-free. If you do buy something like that, check the label to see if it contains aspartame.

Congratulations on your pregnancy, and thank you for sharing the fact that pregnant women shouldn't consume aspartame.

Nutrasweet (aspartme)is the most common artificial sweetener so if you drank a diet drink you probably drank Nutrasweet. If you don't want to consume sugar ask you Dr. if you can eat Splenda(sucralose) instead of Nutrasweet. Its made of a different compound that is supposed to be a good replacement for Nutrasweet.

most diet drinks and foods that usually contain sugar, but are labeled as no sugar. it's a very broad spectrum..just check the labels. Aspartame is the name on the label usually.

Anything diet sweetened with aspartime, stay away from this nasty little chemical even if you are not pregnant, research it and you will find it is horrible for you.
