I hate to break it to you, but there is no such thing as "An emo". People who call themselves emo are poseurs and people who call others "emo" are also poseurs.

Emo is about music and that's it. It's got nothing to do with crazy hair, fringe, eyeliner, black clothing or being "scene" (whatever the hell that is). If you think that's what emo is, then you've been fooled.

Emo's a genre of music and that's it. It's got nothing to do with image, which is now what people (who know nothing about what emo originally was) associate emo with.

No, AFI is not emo. All the bands that are being called emo today are not. Emo is dead. It started in the 80's and pretty much died in the 90's. You don't hear true emo music anymore. Many bands these days are INCORRECTLY labelled as emo by idiots who know nothing more.

Emo does NOT stand for "emotional". It stands for emotive HARDCORE. Which was shortened to emocore, which was further shortened to emo. Emotive hardcore is a genre and a noun. Not a freaking adjective to describe someone. "Hey, he's emo!" No he's not. Basically you're saying "Hey, he's emotive hardcore!" Which doen't make sense at all.

No, Davey and AFI were in the music business WAY before the 'emo' stereotype became big. It shouldn't matter anyway, AFI's music is awesome, and you should like AFI for that, not for what they are labeled as.
