Why do so many people have children who don't know or care how to treat them? Because there are a lot of people out there who are a waste of space....idiots who don't care or won't take responsibility.

i agree that too many people do that, it's what piggy said, impulse buy. they do it because either "they are sooo cute", or thy just want a pet, not caring what the heck the pet even is. people should definitely do research before buying any pet. and i also think that sales people like at pet stores, should not let people buy a pet from them if they seem to know nothing about it.
when i went to buy 2 gerbils at Petsmart after doing research, i witnessed a mom and daughter there who wanted a hamster. the daughter was only like 5 years old. they were picking out 2 hamsters, and the saleperson said 2 hamsters won't get along, and so the mom said, "ok, well, we will just get 2 gerbils instead." they did no research, and they even had the wrong cage. it was impulse buy.
they should have said"oh, then let's go home, learn about gerbils, THEN come and buy gerbils."

ahhhh, i hate when people do that!!

Why do so many people ask this question over and over agian?!??! If people want to buy pets and then ask questions, GO FOR IT! Why do we all have pretty hair yet we have all these questions on how to make it prettier? Thats what keeps this site going! Everyone wants to know more or new ways on how to do something or raise something because everyone has a different experieance. SERIOUSLY! Lets move on and quit asking this STUPID question. If your looking for a reason to complain about what other people are doing, do it somewhere else!!!!

Because they don't see it as an animal, they see it as an object. People do this with fish, especially. They buy a bunch of pretty fish and toss them in a tank without checking to see if the species are compatible, or if they have similar environmental needs. They think they want a fish tank, but they really should have a lava lamp instead.

And what about people who buy things like alligators? They keep them in a bathtub, then a few years later realize that they have a potential killer in their house. Only then do they give thought to what to do with it. Why don't they think ahead?

Because they THINK they want the pet, but it usually is just cute.

Because they think it looks "cute" and really like it. Also they don't see it as a person, but as a thing. It's sad I know.
