Do you mean fetus? Sounds ridiculous to me, but if you are that close to delivery you should not be traveling anyway. It is recommended that you not travel after 6months. If your are earlier than that, all the insurance in the world will not protect your fetus, especially in mexico. I would not want to be treated for a cold there much less premature labor/delivery.

If you are that close to delivery you shouldn't be going to mexico. In Canada they won't insure you to travel after 36 weeks. You don't insure the fetus..they don't consider it a baby till its born. You insure yourself, and if the baby is born then it is covered under your insurance. Call your local insurance provider.

Haven't heard of it before...but given all else being equal, I can see it.

This would be covered under basic medical insurance. Check with your insurance carrier.

Oh, and *do* buy supplemental vacation insurance through Blue Cross or other carrier. Contact THEM to find if they carry the right kind of insurance, don't just fill-out the generic form at the airport.

Call your travel insurance company, but I would think if you were insured the baby is covered. But you should definitly ask.

Blue Cross is pretty good.

Oh and silly Americans the rest of us who use real English spell it foetus.

All you need to do is call your health insurance provider and ask them what would happen if you delivered on vacation in another country.... they will tell you if you and the baby are covered or not. If you are covered they will tell you doctors and hospitals near where you are going that you can be treated at.
